Biosecurity Act 1993

Miscellaneous provisions

164: Liability for goods

You could also call this:

"The government is not responsible for damage to your goods if they are being held to protect New Zealand from pests or diseases."

If you have goods that are being held by the government because of the Biosecurity Act 1993, you cannot sue the government for any loss or damage to those goods if the government is taking care of them properly. The government will not be liable for any damage to your goods if it happens while the government is trying to protect the country from pests or diseases, and the government is being careful. You cannot claim against the government if your goods are damaged during an inspection or while they are in quarantine, as long as the government is acting carefully and following the rules of the Biosecurity Act 1993.
