When you read this Part of the law, the term exclusive economic zone or EEZ refers to a specific area described in section 9 of the Territorial Sea, Contiguous Zone, and Exclusive Economic Zone Act 1977. When you see the term arrive in the EEZ, it means a vessel anchors, berths, or operates in the EEZ to explore or use its resources, or to get ready to do so, after coming from outside the EEZ. This happens when a vessel has been on a voyage that started outside the outer limits of the EEZ. You need to understand that this is a specific activity in the law.
