Biosecurity Act 1993

Savings and transitional provisions

173: Transitional continuance of regulations

You could also call this:

"Old rules stayed in force for a little while after the Biosecurity Act 1993 started"

When the Biosecurity Act 1993 started, some old regulations were still in force. You will find these regulations in Schedule 7. If they did not contradict the Biosecurity Act 1993, they were treated as if they were made under this new Act. They stayed in force until they were revoked or for two years after 30 June 1993, whichever happened first. After that, they expired, which means they were no longer in force, as stated in section 167(1).
