Biosecurity Act 1993

Importation of risk goods

16B: Duty of importers to comply with import health standards

You could also call this:

"Importers must follow health rules when bringing risk goods into New Zealand"

When you import risk goods, you must take all reasonable steps to ensure the goods comply with applicable import health standards. You also need to do what an inspector asks if they require it. This includes providing a declaration in an approved form that sets out the steps you took to comply with the standard. You must provide this declaration to the inspector in an approved manner, as explained in the Biosecurity Law Reform Act 2012. You have to follow these rules to import risk goods into New Zealand.
