Animal Products Act 1999

Risk management programmes

16: Duties of operators of risk management programmes

You could also call this:

"What animal product businesses must do to follow the rules and keep their products safe"

If you operate a risk management programme, you have some important duties. You must make sure your animal product business follows the rules set out in the Animal Products Act and your risk management programme. You also need to ensure your programme meets the requirements of any regulations, notices, and orders in force under this Act.

You have to implement your programme properly, with enough resources and staff training, so you can deliver animal products that are fit for their intended purpose. Your operations must also be suitable for your premises, facilities, equipment, and staff.

You must give recognised agencies and persons access to your premises, so they can do their job under the Animal Products Act. If you change your verifying agency, you need to tell the Director-General as soon as possible.
