Animal Products Act 1999

Export of animal material and products - Export requirements and official assurances

62: Form and content of official assurance

You could also call this:

"What an official assurance must look like and what it must say"

When you get an official assurance, it can be in the form of a certificate or declaration, or in another form decided by the Director-General. You can get an official assurance for one or more consignments of animal material or product, or for one or more producers or processors or exporters of animal material or product. It can also be for one or more export destinations, or any combination of these.

An official assurance can be sent to its destination by writing, fax, electronic means, or any other form of communication that is accurate, clear, and verifiable. The Director-General decides what form an official assurance can take. You can receive an official assurance in different ways, as long as it is clear and accurate.

The way official assurances are communicated has been updated, as stated in the Food Safety Law Reform Act 2018.
