Animal Products Act 1999

Recognised agencies, persons, and classes of persons - Recognition process

112: Grant of recognition

You could also call this:

"When someone is officially recognised, their details are recorded and they get a notice saying what they can do."

When the Director-General recognises an agency, a person, or a group of people, they must do a few things as soon as they can. They must put the name of the recognised agency or person in a public register, or describe the group so it can be easily identified. They must also give the agency or person a notice of recognition. If the recognition is for a group, the Director-General must tell the group about the recognition, following the rules in section 112W. If someone applied for the group to be recognised, the Director-General must give them written notice that the group is recognised.

A notice of recognition must say what the recognised agency, person, or group is allowed to do. It must also say if there are any conditions they must follow, as decided under section 111(1). The notice must specify how long the recognition lasts, as decided under section 112B. For a recognised group, the notice must also say if any members of the group are not included, as decided under section 105(5).
