Animal Products Act 1999

Export of animal material and products

48: Exporters of animal products for human or animal consumption, and certain other animal material and products, must be registered

You could also call this:

"People sending animal food overseas from New Zealand must register first."

If you want to export animal products from New Zealand, you must be registered. You can't export animal material or products unless you are registered as an exporter or you are exempt. You are exempt if the rules say you don't have to follow this law, as stated in an Order in Council made under section 9, the regulations, or a notice as referred to in section 50.

This law applies to you if you export animal products that people or animals eat. It also applies if you export animal material or products that need to meet export requirements and have an official assurance. Some other animal material or products are also covered, as specified by an Order in Council made under section 49.

You need to follow these rules when exporting animal products from New Zealand. The rules are in place to ensure that animal products are safe for human or animal consumption. You must be registered or exempt to export these products.
