Animal Products Act 1999

Homekill and recreational catch - Listing of homekill and recreational catch service providers

73: Director-General to maintain list of homekill and recreational catch service providers

You could also call this:

"Who can kill or process animals for homekill or recreational catch"

The Director-General has to keep a list of people who can kill or process animals for homekill or recreational catch for others. You can think of homekill as when someone kills an animal on their farm for food, and recreational catch is when someone catches fish or other seafood for fun. The list is so you can know who is allowed to provide these services.

The Director-General keeps the list for two main reasons: so you can see who is recognised by law to provide homekill and recreational catch services, and to help the Ministry make sure everyone is following the rules. The Ministry is the government agency in charge of making sure the laws about animal products are followed.

The Director-General must make the list available for you to look at during office hours, and you can also ask for a copy of the list and pay a small fee for it. The list can be kept in different ways, such as on a computer or in a book, as long as the information can be easily accessed and used.
