Animal Products Act 1999

Officers, powers, etc - Powers of Director-General

83: Director-General may give statements as to New Zealand animal product standard

You could also call this:

"The boss of animal product safety can give you a certificate about a product meeting New Zealand standards if you ask and pay."

The Director-General can give you a written statement about the New Zealand animal product standard if you ask for it and pay a fee. You might get this statement for a particular animal product or group of products, but only if the Director-General is satisfied that the product was made according to the rules. The Director-General decides what the statement looks like and what it says. If the Director-General gives you a statement, it does not mean the animal product is perfect for everyone to use, or that it will always be safe to eat or use, and it might not be suitable for a different purpose. The Director-General can take back a statement if it was given incorrectly, or if something has changed since it was given, and the statement is no longer true.
