Electricity Act 1992

General - Electricity operators

4A: Declaration of electricity generators as electricity operators

You could also call this:

“The Minister can name electricity makers as special operators”

The Minister can say that someone who makes electricity is an electricity operator. This means the person can do certain things under the law. The Minister will do this by putting a notice in a special book called the Gazette. The Minister will only do this if it’s needed for the person to start or keep making electricity. Also, the person can only use this special status for the equipment they need to send the electricity they make to where it’s used.

If the person stops doing these electricity activities, the Minister must say they are no longer an electricity operator. The Minister will do this by putting another notice in the Gazette. This notice will say when the person stops being an electricity operator.
