Miscellaneous provisions - General electricity matters - Electricity safety instruments

169E: Minister may delegate approval of electricity safety instruments to WorkSafe

You could also call this:

“Minister can let WorkSafe make rules about electricity safety”

The Minister can give WorkSafe the power to approve, change, or cancel electricity safety rules. This must be done in writing. When WorkSafe has this power, they can’t give it to anyone else unless the Minister says it’s okay.

The Minister’s ability to give this power to WorkSafe might have some limits set by other laws. But the Minister can still give other powers to WorkSafe if other laws allow it.

When WorkSafe has this power, they can use it in the same way the Minister would, unless told otherwise. If WorkSafe acts like they have this power, people should assume they’re using it correctly unless proven otherwise.

Even when the Minister gives this power to WorkSafe, the Minister is still responsible for what happens. The Minister can still use this power themselves, too.
