Electricity Act 1992

Registration and licensing of electrical workers and employer licences - Electrical worker registration and licensing - Exemptions from registration and practising licence requirements and conditions

107: Board may grant exemptions from registration and practising licence requirements and conditions

You could also call this:

“Board can make special exceptions for people who want to work with electricity”

The Board can let someone off from following the rules for being registered or having a practising licence. They can do this for one person or for a group of people. When they do this, they write it down.

The Board can say you don’t have to meet the usual standards for getting registered or getting a practising licence. They can also say you don’t have to follow some of the rules that are usually set out in section 85.

When the Board lets someone off from following the rules, they can add their own rules that the person has to follow instead.

If the Board lets a whole group of people off from following the rules, they have to tell everyone about it officially. This is called secondary legislation and there are special rules about how they have to share this information.
