Electricity Act 1992

Registration and licensing of electrical workers and employer licences - Electrical worker registration and licensing - How to become registered

94: Duration of provisional licence

You could also call this:

“How long a temporary electrician's license lasts and when it can end”

A provisional licence lets you work as an electrician for a short time. It lasts for up to 12 months, but you can ask to have it renewed for another 12 months. The Board that gives out these licences can say no if they don’t want to renew your licence.

Your provisional licence can be taken away for a few reasons. It can be cancelled in the same ways as other licences, which are described in another part of the law. It can also be cancelled if you don’t follow the rules of your licence. Finally, it can be cancelled when you apply for full registration or a regular practising licence.

Remember, the Board can decide to cancel your licence at any time if they think it’s the right thing to do.
