Electricity Act 1992

Repeals, etc, and transitional provisions - Transitional provisions

181: Electricity distributors to ensure provision of inspection services

You could also call this:

“Electricity companies must make sure there are enough people to check electrical work”

You need to know about a rule for electricity distributors. This rule is about making sure there are enough people to check electrical work.

If you were an electricity distributor before this new rule started, or if you took over from someone who was, this rule applies to you.

For one year after this rule begins, you must make sure there are enough people in your area to do these jobs:

  1. Test electrical work
  2. Certify electrical work
  3. Inspect electrical work

These jobs are for a specific type of electrical work called “prescribed electrical work”.

You need to make sure that when people want this work checked, they can get it done quickly and easily. It should also not cost too much money.

This rule is to help keep people safe when they use electricity.
