Electricity Act 1992

Powers and duties of electricity operators and other owners of electrical works

23A: Line owner must give written notice of intention to maintain or complete existing works

You could also call this:

“Power company needs to tell you before fixing or finishing electrical work on your property”

If you own existing electrical works and want to enter someone’s land to maintain or complete these works, you need to tell the owner or occupier of the land in writing. You must give them this notice at least 10 working days before you plan to enter their land.

In your written notice, you need to include several important details. You must say where exactly you will be entering and working on their land. You also need to explain why you need to enter their land, what kind of work you’ll be doing, and when you plan to come. Finally, you should let them know how long you expect to be on their land.

This rule is part of section 23 of the law, which talks about the rights and responsibilities of people who own or operate electrical equipment.
