Electricity Act 1992

Administration - General provisions

158: Review of operation of Act

You could also call this:

“The law says someone must check if the electricity rules are working well”

The law says that a group called the Board needs to check how well the Electricity Act 1992 is working. They need to do this first after three years, and then every five years after that. When they do this check, they look at all parts of the Act except Parts 2 to 8.

When the Board does this check, they think about whether any changes are needed to make the Act better. After they finish looking at everything, they write a report about what they found and give it to the Minister.

The Minister then has a job to do. As soon as they can after getting the report from the Board, they need to show it to the House of Representatives. This is a group of people who help make laws in New Zealand.

This process helps make sure the Electricity Act 1992 is working well and stays up to date.
