Electricity Act 1992

Disciplinary provisions - Investigations

147F: Offence to fail to comply with notice to supply information or document

You could also call this:

“You must give correct information when asked during an investigation, or you could be fined”

If someone asks you to provide information or a document as part of an investigation, you need to do so. If you don’t, you might get in trouble.

You could be breaking the law if you:

  • Don’t give the information or document when asked, without a good reason
  • Give false or misleading information or documents on purpose

If you break this law, you might have to pay a fine. If you’re an individual, the fine could be up to $10,000. If you’re a company, the fine could be up to $50,000.

It’s important to be honest and helpful when you’re asked for information during an investigation. If you’re not sure about something, it’s better to ask for help than to ignore the request or give wrong information.
