This section changes the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989. You can find this act on the New Zealand legislation website. Some parts of the act are repealed, which means they are removed. New subsections are added to the act, and these subsections refer to the Search and Surveillance Act 2012.

The Search and Surveillance Act 2012 has rules that apply to the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989. You can find these rules in Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012, except for subpart 3. Some words are also changed in the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989, like who can issue a warrant.

The person who can issue a warrant is now called an issuing officer, and they must follow the rules in the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. Other parts of the act are also changed, like section 38 and section 38A. These changes affect how the act works and who is involved.
