"Changes to who can make decisions about films, videos, and publications"

When you look at the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993, you will see some changes to sections 109 to 109B. These changes are about who can make decisions and how they can make applications. You can find more information about what an issuing officer is by looking at section 3 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012.

You will see that the old rules said a District Court Judge, Justice, or Community Magistrate, or a Registrar could make decisions. Now, an issuing officer can make these decisions, and they have to follow the rules in subpart 3 of Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. This applies to sections 109, 109A, and 109B.

When you read these sections, you will see that the rules for making applications have changed too. You can find out more about how to make an application by reading subpart 3 of Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. This will help you understand how the new rules work.
