The law is changing the Electricity Act 1992. You can find the Electricity Act 1992 on the New Zealand legislation website. This change affects how people can enter a dwellinghouse.

When someone wants to enter a dwellinghouse, they must get a warrant from an issuing officer. The issuing officer is someone who is allowed to issue warrants under the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. You can find more information about how to apply for a search warrant in subpart 3 of Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012.

Some parts of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012 now apply to getting a warrant to enter a dwellinghouse. These parts are subparts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 10 of Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. They help explain how to apply for a warrant and what happens when a warrant is issued.
