"Changes to the Wildlife Act 1953 to update warrant rules"

This section changes the Wildlife Act 1953. You can find the Wildlife Act 1953 on the New Zealand legislation website. The changes affect what a judge or magistrate can do when issuing a warrant. They also change how long a warrant can last.

Some words in the Wildlife Act 1953 are replaced with new words. For example, "Justice or Community Magistrate" is replaced with "issuing officer", which is explained in the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. The new words also change how a warrant is issued, from "probable cause to suspect" to "satisfied on reasonable grounds".

The Wildlife Act 1953 now includes some rules from the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. You can find these rules in Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012, but it does not include sections 118 and 119. Another part of the Wildlife Act 1953, section 56A, is also changed to refer to different sections of another act.
