You will see some changes to the Customs and Excise Act 1996. The changes affect sections 149A to 149D. Some parts of these sections are being updated or removed. You can find the updated sections on the New Zealand legislation website. Some of the changes include new rules about searching and surveillance. These rules come from the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. When you look at the changes, you will see that some words have been replaced. For example, 'believe' has been replaced with 'suspect' in one section. Other parts of the sections have been removed or updated with new information. The changes also affect how goods are forfeited to the Crown. You can find more information about this in section 225 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996. The Search and Surveillance Act 2012 has rules that apply to these situations.
