184: Issue of search warrants

"Getting a search warrant: how the police can search for something with permission"

When you want to issue a search warrant, you need to follow certain rules. You must apply to an issuing officer, who is someone that the Search and Surveillance Act 2012 says can make these decisions. The issuing officer must be satisfied with your application, which you make in a certain way that is outlined in the Search and Surveillance Act 2012.

If you are looking for something that was made or imported illegally, like a product that breaks the rules of this Act, you can ask for a search warrant. The Search and Surveillance Act 2012 has rules about how search warrants work, and most of these rules apply when you are searching for something related to this Act. However, some rules, like sections 118 and 119 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012, only apply if the warrant is issued to a specific police officer or to all police officers.

You can find more information about how search warrants work in the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. The rules about search warrants are outlined in Part 4 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. You can also look at section 3 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012 to see who can be an issuing officer.
