The Governor-General can change Schedule 5A from time to time. You need to know that the Minister must recommend these changes. The Governor-General can add or remove stocks from the schedule. The changes take effect at the start of the next fishing year. This applies to the stocks that are being changed. The Minister must talk to people who have an interest in the stocks before making any changes. The Minister must consult with people who are affected by the changes. The changes are a type of law called secondary legislation. You can find out more about secondary legislation in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
