You can submit a proposal to the chief executive to establish a taiapure-local fishery. You need to include a description of the proposed fishery, its location, and boundaries. You also need to describe the different interests in the fishery, such as Maori, traditional, and recreational interests. You must explain why the area is special to an iwi or hapu, such as being a food source or having spiritual significance. You have to set out the policies and objectives of your proposal. The chief executive may ask for more information. You can look at the legislation for more details about this process.
