You can be a member of the National Fisheries Advisory Council if the Minister chooses you. The Minister can pick people to be on the Council, like someone from the Chatham Islands. The Minister talks to other important people before making these choices. You will be on the Council until the Minister says you are not needed anymore. You can leave the Council at any time by writing to the Minister. The Minister can also say you are only on the Council to help with a specific task.
