Illustration for Fisheries Act 1996

You need to follow some steps before your international fishing permit can be suspended or revoked. The chief executive must give you at least 7 days' notice in writing of their intention to suspend or revoke your permit. This notice must include the reasons for the suspension or revocation, the date it will happen, and how long the permit will be suspended if that's what is decided. You will be given a chance to make submissions to the chief executive. The chief executive must consider any submissions you make. This process is outlined in section 113N(1) or (2) of the Fisheries Act 1996. The chief executive has to consider your submissions before making a decision about your permit.
