When you are following the Fisheries Act 1996, you must do it in a way that fits with New Zealand's international fishing rules. You also need to follow the rules of the Treaty of Waitangi (Fisheries Claims) Settlement Act 1992. This means you must act in a way that is consistent with both New Zealand's international obligations and the Treaty of Waitangi (Fisheries Claims) Settlement Act 1992, which can be found at https://legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1986/0120/latest/link.aspx?id=DLM281432.
