You need to know that scampi in certain areas became part of the quota management system on 1 October 2004 under Part 4. The quota management system is explained in Part 4, which you can read about by following the link to Part 4. The fishing year for scampi starts on 1 October and lasts for 12 months. You should look at the areas listed as SCI1, SCI2, SCI3, SCI4A, SCI5, SCI6A, SCI6B, SCI7, SCI8, SCI9, and SCI10 to see where scampi are part of the quota management system. The areas SCI1, SCI2, SCI5, SCI7, SCI8, SCI9, and SCI10 are described in Schedule 1, and the areas SCI3, SCI4A, SCI6A, and SCI6B are described in Schedule 13. The total allowable catch for scampi is measured in greenweight. The total allowable commercial catch and annual catch entitlement for scampi are also measured in greenweight. You can find more information about the quota management system in sections 369O to 369R. The fishing year and catch limits help manage the scampi population.
