Appointment and powers of fishery officers - Power to take copies of documents

206: Power to take copies of documents

You could also call this:

"Fishery officers can copy documents to help them do their job."

Illustration for Fisheries Act 1996

When a fishery officer is doing their job under this Act, they can make or take copies of any records or documents. They can take the documents away to make copies, but only for a reasonable amount of time. You might be asked to help the officer make the information in a document usable. If a fishery officer copies documents under this section, they must follow the rules in section 137 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012. This means the officer must deal with the copied documents in the same way as that Act says, with a few changes if needed.
