Illustration for Fisheries Act 1996

You can get a civil penalty if you break the rules. The Minister can take you to court to get the penalty. The penalty is like a debt that you owe to the government. You have to pay the penalty and the court costs. You may also have to pay the Minister's costs for taking you to court. This is what happens when the Minister takes you to court to get the penalty.
