Illustration for Fisheries Act 1996

You have a fishing vessel registered under the Fisheries Act 1996. If you have fish, aquatic life, or seaweed on your vessel, it is assumed you caught it to sell, unless you have a special approval from the chief executive. You must follow the conditions of this approval and get it before you take the fish, aquatic life, or seaweed. This rule does not apply if you caught the fish, aquatic life, or seaweed lawfully under regulations made under section 186. You need to know about these rules to follow the law when fishing with a registered vessel.
