Illustration for Fisheries Act 1996

When you get a notice to transfer property, rights, and obligations, it must say when it takes effect. This date is at least 30 days after you get the notice. You can apply to the District Court to stop the notice within a certain time. If you do not apply, the notice takes effect on the date specified. If you apply and the court says no, the notice takes effect when the court makes this decision. The notice must also tell you that you can apply to the District Court to revoke it. You will know what to do because the notice will have all the details. The notice is given under section 296H. You can find more information about this in the Fisheries Act 1996.
