Civil Aviation Act 1990

Functions, powers, and duties of participants in the civil aviation system

14C: Minister may direct agencies with respect to search and rescue operations

You could also call this:

“Minister can tell groups to help with search and rescue”

The Minister can tell the Civil Aviation Authority, Maritime New Zealand, or other government groups to help with search and rescue operations. The Minister can ask these groups to do several things:

You can run and take care of the search and rescue centre that was set up by law.

You can help plan or be part of search and rescue operations that the law talks about.

You can do the actual search and rescue work that the law mentions.

You can use some of the Minister’s powers that are written in the law. These powers help with search and rescue work.

The Minister can only ask groups to do these things if they are responsible to the Minister and if their normal work fits with search and rescue operations.
