Civil Aviation Act 1990

International air services licensing - Open aviation market licences

87Y: Transfer of open aviation market licence

You could also call this:

“New Zealand airlines can give their special flying permission to other airlines”

If you have an open aviation market licence as a New Zealand international airline, you can give it to another New Zealand international airline. This is called transferring the licence. If you want to do this, you need to tell the Secretary at least 3 months before you plan to transfer it. The Secretary will look at all the same things they would if someone was asking for a new licence. They’ll check if the airline getting the licence meets all the rules. If the Secretary decides to let you transfer the licence, they will put a notice in the Gazette. The Gazette is like a special newspaper where the government announces important things.
