Gambling Act 2003

Preliminary provisions

5: Extended meaning of conduct

You could also call this:

"What 'conduct' means in gambling law, including organising, managing, and helping with gambling activities"

In the Gambling Act 2003, when you hear the term "conduct" in relation to gambling, it includes activities like organising or managing gambling. You are considered to be conducting gambling if you are supervising or operating gambling equipment, but not if you are just playing. This also includes things like distributing the money made from gambling, such as paying prizes, or promoting gambling to others.

If you sell tickets for people to participate in gambling, or help with any of these activities, this is also considered conduct. The law sees assisting with these activities as a part of conducting gambling.

You can find more information about changes to this law in section 6 of the Gambling Amendment Act 2015.
