Gambling Act 2003

Gambling - Prohibitions and authorisations

12: What is increase in casino gambling

You could also call this:

"What makes casino gambling increase, according to the Gambling Commission?"

The Gambling Commission decides what is an increase in casino gambling. You might think an increase in casino gambling is when there are more gaming machines or table games. The Commission considers it an increase if there are more machines or games, unless there is a reduction in other types of games that they think is fair.

The Commission also looks at the space where people play table games. If this space increases, it might be an increase in casino gambling, unless there is a reduction in other gambling opportunities that the Commission thinks is fair. You can find more information about gambling conducted by TAB NZ in section 120.

Some changes to casino gambling do not count as an increase. For example, changes to the Auckland casino that follow a special order from 2002 are not considered an increase. Gambling done by TAB NZ, as mentioned in section 120, is also not considered an increase.
