Illustration for Gambling Act 2003

The New Zealand Lottery Grants Board can give some of its profits to certain groups. You can think of these groups like the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa, the New Zealand Film Commission, and Sport and Recreation New Zealand. The Board can choose to give them some money to use as stated in the laws that created these groups, such as the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa Act 2014, the New Zealand Film Commission Act 1978, and the Sport and Recreation New Zealand Act 2002.

When the Board decides to give money to one of these groups, it must tell the Secretary and the group. The Secretary then makes sure the group gets the money at the times the Board decides.

The Board has the power to choose how often the groups get the money, and it must follow the rules that apply to each group.
