Gambling Act 2003

Gambling - Classes of gambling - Class 4 gambling

34: Meaning of casino gambling

You could also call this:

"What is casino gambling in New Zealand?"

In the Gambling Act 2003, casino gambling means gambling with game rules that you follow. You play by those rules and the game is run according to them. The game must also have a casino venue licence and a casino operator's licence.

When you gamble, it is casino gambling if it has rules and you follow them, and it is run at a place with the right licences. But if TAB NZ is running the gambling, as referred to in section 120, it is not considered casino gambling. This rule helps you understand what casino gambling is in New Zealand.
