Illustration for Gambling Act 2003

If you have a casino licence, the Gambling Commission can suspend or cancel it. The Commission can do this if it thinks you have broken the rules, as stated in section 144. It can also suspend your licence if it wants to.

When the Commission suspends your licence, it must tell you how long the suspension will last and why it is suspending your licence. It must also tell you what you need to do to get your licence back. You have the right to appeal the decision under section 235.

If the Commission cancels your licence, it must tell you when the cancellation will happen and why it is cancelling your licence. You also have the right to appeal this decision under section 235.

The Commission can lift a suspension if it is happy that you have fixed the problems that led to the suspension. But if you do not fix the problems, your licence will be cancelled at the end of the suspension period. You will not get a refund if your licence is suspended or cancelled.
