Illustration for Gambling Act 2003

If you have a licence to run a gambling venue, you must create a policy to identify people who might have a problem with gambling. You have to include certain procedures in your policy, which are outlined in regulations made under section 316. You must follow these rules to help people who are struggling with gambling.

You need to display a notice in your venue telling customers that you have a policy to identify problem gamblers. The notice must also say that customers can ask to see a copy of the policy. You have to make sure your staff use the policy to identify people who might be having problems with gambling.

If you do not follow these rules, you can get in trouble and have to pay a fine of up to $5,000. This can happen if you do not display the notice or if you do not use the policy to help problem gamblers. You must take all reasonable steps to ensure the policy is used correctly.
