Gambling - Licensing of casino gambling - Amendment of casino licence

141: Minimum operating standards in casino licences

You could also call this:

"Rules for how casinos must run every day"

The Secretary can set minimum operating standards for casinos. You need to know these standards are for the day-to-day running of a casino. The Secretary can change or cancel these standards in certain situations.

The Secretary can set these standards when a new casino licence is granted, or when a casino venue licence is renewed. They can also set standards when a casino venue agreement is approved, or when the casino licence holder asks for a change. The Secretary can even set standards on their own initiative.

Minimum operating standards are about how a casino runs every day. They can include things like what is listed in Schedule 2. If the standards are changed or cancelled, they are considered secondary legislation, which has its own publication requirements, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
