242: Ministerial directions

You could also call this:

"The Minister can give the Lotteries Commission instructions that they must follow."

The Minister can give written directions to the New Zealand Lotteries Commission. You need to know that these directions can require the Commission to change or cancel a rule made under section 243 or make a new one. The Minister must talk to the Commission before giving a direction.

The Minister has to make the direction public as soon as possible by publishing it in the Gazette and giving a copy to the House of Representatives. A direction can be changed or cancelled in the same way it was made.

The Lotteries Commission must follow a direction, even if it goes against section 104 of the Crown Entities Act 2004.
