100F: Code of good faith for employment relationships in relation to provision of services by New Zealand Police
or “Rules for treating police workers fairly when they do their job”

You could also call this:

“The Governor-General can change the rules for how the police and their workers should treat each other, but only if the police boss and most of the police workers' groups ask for it.”

The Governor-General can change or replace the code of good faith for employment relationships for the New Zealand Police. This code is in Schedule 1C.

To make these changes, the Minister needs to be asked by the Police Commissioner and service organisations. These service organisations must represent at least three-quarters of the Police’s service organisation members. The Minister also needs to talk to the Minister of Police and anyone else they think is important.

A service organisation is defined in section 55 of the Policing Act 2008.

If an order is made to change the code, it is considered secondary legislation. This means it follows the rules in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for how it should be published.
