Employment Relations Act 2000

General provisions - Labour Inspectors

223: Labour Inspectors

You could also call this:

"People chosen to enforce work laws and make sure they are fair are called Labour Inspectors"

The chief executive can choose some employees to be Labour Inspectors. You need to know that Labour Inspectors work with several laws, including the Employment Relations Act 2000, the Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlements Act 2017, the Equal Pay Act 1972, the Holidays Act 2003, the Home and Community Support (Payment for Travel Between Clients) Settlement Act 2016, the Minimum Wage Act 1983, the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987, the Volunteers Employment Protection Act 1973, and the Wages Protection Act 1983. The chief executive signs a special paper called a warrant of designation for each Labour Inspector. When a Labour Inspector is doing their job, they must show you their warrant of designation if you ask to see it.
