Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

Purposes, principles, and duties - General duties

7F: Delegations and subdelegations to be publicly notified

You could also call this:

"When someone gets a new job or power, the department must tell the public about it on their website and at their office."

Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

When people are given special jobs or powers, you can find out about it. The department must tell everyone about these jobs or powers on their website and at their main office. You can look at this information for free until the job or power is taken away.

The department must include some details, such as who has the job or power, what they can do, and where in the law it says they can do it. They do not have to say the person's name, but can say the name of their office instead. They must also say which part of the law gives them the power to do their job.

If the department forgets to tell everyone about the job or power, it does not mean the person cannot do their job.
