Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

Care and protection of children and young persons - Support orders

93: Duty to provide support

You could also call this:

"Someone must help and care for a child when the court says so."

Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

When a court makes an order under section 91 or section 92 for a child or young person, someone has to make sure the child is cared for. This person is usually the chief executive, but it can be someone else the court chooses. They have to check the child is being looked after properly.

They have to make sure the child gets the help and support they need. This can include money and other resources from the community. The person in charge has to organise these things so the child is safe and cared for.
