If you are a young person doing work as part of a community work order and you get hurt, the Accident Compensation Act 2001 applies to you. If your injury happens while you are doing the work, it is considered a work-related injury for the purposes of section 97 of that Act. The government will pay you the compensation you are entitled to under that section.

If you are entitled to other help under the Accident Compensation Act 2001, the cost will be paid from a special account, depending on whether you are an earner or not. You can find more information about the Accident Compensation Act 2001 on the New Zealand legislation website. The Act helps people who are hurt in accidents, including those that happen at work.
