Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

Care and protection of children and young persons - Code of practice for information sharing

66N: Approval of draft Code by Minister

You could also call this:

"The Minister checks and approves a set of rules called the Code to help people share information."

Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

The Minister must consider the issues and concerns people have raised about the draft Code and make any necessary changes. You can think of the Code as a set of rules that help people share information. The Minister must then approve the Code, which is a type of secondary legislation - you can learn more about what this means by looking at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The Code will come into force on a specific date, which will be either the date stated in the Code, as long as it's after the Code is published under the Legislation Act 2019, or the day after the Code is published if no date is specified.
